Yardlong Beans (Long Cowpeas) 400g
Also known as Chinese long bean (asparagus bean)
Slender, extra‑crisp beans that stay snappy in stir‑fries and braises. Naturally sweet with a grassy aroma and great at soaking up savory sauces.
Why you’ll love it
- Holds its bite — ideal for dry‑frying, wok stir‑fries, and quick braises.
- Long, even pods cut cleanly into wok‑friendly lengths.
- Soaks up soy, garlic, and chili flavors beautifully without turning mushy.
- Versatile across Chinese, Southeast Asian, and noodle‑soup dishes.
How to enjoy
Wok‑toss cut beans with smashed garlic, a splash of light soy and a drizzle of oyster sauce until just blistered (3–5 minutes).
Sizzle beans until lightly wrinkled, then toss with pork mince, doubanjiang, and a spoon of chili oil for a restaurant‑style classic.
Simmer a light base with clear chicken broth, add short‑blanched beans, rice vermicelli and a handful of enoki.
Toss beans with juicy king prawns, ginger and a splash of soy; finish with black pepper.
Prep Tips
- Trim tips and cut into 5–7 cm lengths for even cooking.
- For wok “blister”: pat dry and stir‑fry over high heat 3–5 minutes until lightly wrinkled.
- For extra‑tender: briefly blanch 1–2 minutes, then finish in the sauce.
- Dry‑fry method intensifies flavor; add aromatics and sauces near the end to prevent burning.
Pairs well
Garlic · Light soy sauce · Black vinegar · Chili crisp · Firm tofu · Beef mince · Sesame oil
